Automatically compute and substitute current values for all
$(AUTORELEASE) instances as this feature is deprecated and shouldn't be
used.
The following temporary change was made to the core:

I'm not sure if this is an issue in my build environment, but I believe
this is the proper fix because gzip and zile use the same option:

Compile with `-std=gnu99` instead of `-std=c99` to avoid redefining
`__attribute__` in `src/system.h`.
